Costs

Cash ISAs

There are no up-front charges, but always check the savings rates available to ensure they are competitive. Also find out if any attractive interest rates you may be offered are guaranteed for a decent length of time.

Stocks and shares ISAs

If you are buying a unit trust as part of an ISA you can expect to pay an upfront charge of as much as 6% plus an ongoing management fee of up to 2% a year.

There are also charges for investment trusts, although these do tend to be lower.
